General Description:

Responsible for operation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC equipment in Factory. Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with blueprints, operating manuals of manufacturer’s specifications. Must be able to perform preventative maintenance. May lead and direct others on specific projects when requested. Reports to the Facilities Manager and serves as backup to manager.

Major Job Duties: • Verifies proper function and maintenance of all building equipment as designed. • Monitors security and fire alarm systems. • Performs maintenance of safety controls indicators such as emergency lights and smoke detector fire testing. Updates maintenance logs. • Implement schedule changes and monitor Novar HVAC control system. • Painting and minor prep for wall and ceilings (repairs requiring new plasterboard would be performed by an outside contractor). • Basic repairs to plumbing and electrical fixtures, locks, doors, and other minor repairs.

 

Miscellaneous: • Removal of trash and garbage. Cleaning sidewalks of trash, leaves, snow • Watering sidewalk trees and flower beds • General Lavatory repairs (sinks. flush meters, toilets, etc.) • Participates in emergency response teams. Requirements: • Position requires knowledge of carpentry, painting, knowledge of appropriate regulatory requirements, computer comprehension . Must be mechanically inclined. • High school required, trade school certificate in one or more trades beneficial. Prefer light electrical experience. • Four to five years previous experience including maintenance or related trade in a commercial or school setting. Must have general knowledge of building services. Physical requirements include lifting, pulling and pushing objects up to 50 pounds, sitting and walking for long periods must have ability to climb, stoop and bend. • Flexible schedule changes and weekend work is required, including working on Christmas and Easter. • Prefer NYC Fire Department certifications as required for sprinkler, air compressor certification. • Must read and write English and comprehend instruction manuals. •

Qualifications: • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment. Ability to perform with minimal daily supervision. • Qualified to supervise maintenance staff as directed by Facilities Manager. • He or she must be flexible, available, and dependable. 

Additional Essential Qualifications: Because the Maintenance Mechanic has considerable contact and direct involvement with a large Congregation and many outside groups and individuals from all walks of life, he or she must be able to respond with courtesy and diplomacy. 


SUMMARY

Responsible for performing production work in factories. Starts, operates, tends, stops, and cleans machines. Assembles finished product. Inspects product to ensure high quality.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Start up and stop equipment.
  • Assist with production line in factories.
  • Clean production area.
  • Sweep, mop, and and remove debris.
  • Load and unload items from machines, carts, and dollies.
  • Feed or place items onto equipment for processing.
  • Lubricate equipment.
  • Measure and pour ingredients.
  • Ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Turn valves to regulate flow of liquids or gas.
  • Mix ingredients.
  • Pull damaged or ineffective equipment off the line.
  • Mark parts for identification.
  • Measure length of extruded article.
  • Place equipment on conveyor belt for further processing.
  • Remove product and machine attachments.
  • Scrape waste material from machine.
  • Read and interpret gauges.
  • Record data.
  • Load and unload processing equipment.
  • Ship finished products.
  • Pour materials into machine hopper.
  • Take instructions from supervisors.
